Social Justice at Edwards Congregational UCC

The Mission of the Social Justice Board (SJB) is to empower the congregation to follow the challenge and example of Jesus, proclaiming and implementing justice through education and action.  The Board also seeks to provide a lens through which we can understand Christian witness in our church, our community and our world.

In cooperation and consultation with the church Council, the Social Justice Board oversees educational programs and activities that increase awareness of social justice issues among the congregation and in the broader community.  Responding to the truth that we are intrinsically connected to all creation, the Social Justice Board strives for our congregation to be a gentle force in creating an interdependent society where love and compassion form the basis of relationships and action.

We are called to change societal systems that contribute to poverty, hunger, injustice, violence, and environmental damage; to help create a society with laws, policies and support systems that allow the needs of all Earth’s inhabitants to be met.
