These are the various funds that we use for the ministry of Edwards:

Endowment Fund

The Endowment Fund hold funds for Edwards in two categories: Unrestricted and Restricted.

Unrestricted funds are those used to create four subcategories of spending. Spending is restricted to the income from investments only. The spending categories are: A- Discretionary by the committee for special requests, B- Education for church members and staff, C- Local Mission and D- Wider Mission

Restricted Funds are held and invested by the committee for the intended purposes for which the funds were given. The restricted funds are the Caregiver Fund, Collins Organ & Piano Fund, Chicago Theological Seminary Fund, Handbell Fund, Kolb Education Fund, Strohbehn Educational Scholarship Fund and the Thomas & Vallie Lewis Fund.

Strohbehn Scholarship Fund

The Strohbehn Educational Fund was established by the Bob Lewis and Edie Sanders to honor the memory of Bob’s grandparents who were active at Edwards Congregational United Church of Christ during their lifetimes. Those eligible to receive a scholarship will be: A member of Edwards Congregational United Church of Christ AND A student who is or will be attending any accredited two or four year college or university.

One Great Hour of Sharing

Giving Help, Hope and Life. One Great Hour of Sharing supports partners in more than 70 countries with ministries that fund development projects, feed the victims of famine, provide services for displaced people, and respond to natural disasters. These ministries are the responsibility of Wider Church Ministries, Global Sharing of Resources.

One Great Hour of Sharing, as part of Our Church's Wider Mission (OCWM), is the special mission offering of the United Church of Christ that carries God's message of love and hope to people in more than eighty countries.

The UCC works with international partners to provide sources of clean water and food, education and health care, small business micro-credit, emergency relief, and advocacy and resettlement for refugees and displaced persons. OGHS also supports domestic and international ministries for disaster preparedness and response.

Strengthen The Church

Faithfully Building the Body of Christ. Supports church growth and leadership development in the conferences and through the national offices of Local Church Ministries. Funding new church starts and invigorating existing congregations, nurturing lay and pastoral leadership, building youth and young adult ministries and supporting the God is Stillspeaking Ministry and its extravagant welcome for all within the United Church of Christ.

Neighbors In Need

Neighbors in Need (NIN) is a special mission offering of the UCC that supports ministries of justice and compassion thoughout the United States. One-third of NIN funds support the Council for American Indian Ministry(CAIM). Two-thirds of the offering is used by the UCC's Justice and Witness Ministries(JWM) to support a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects.

Christmas Fund
Remembering Those Who Serve Our Church Provides financial aid to retired and active ministers and their surviving spouses and children who face overwhelming financial demands, a ministry carried out by the Pension Boards.
