Cardsort: Making usability testing usable
Card sort research has applications in psychology clinics, information architecture, and market research. In particular, it is a valuable aid to developing an intuitive website architecture.
In digitizing card sort research, we are making a goal of:
- Usability. There is little point in usability testing if the usability tools are not intuitive.
- Flexibility. By focusing on the card sort and offering the administrator a powerful range of options, the software remains open to research in several fields.
- Portability. The user interface is entirely coded in Java, and coming soon is a web interface to make deploying a cardsort project even easier.
You can dowload the entire package, including source code, jar files, exe's, and a sample sort, here. Please bear in mind that this is alpha level software. Some features have yet to be added, and some are not fully implemented.
We are now hosting at cardsort.sourceforge.net -- Thanks to sourceforge for their services, including free hosting!
